I had the pleasure of speaking with charismatic High School students at the Academy at Palumbo in my hometown of Philadelphia, PA! Their English instructor, Rob Paul reached out to have me come in and speak about journalism.
I shared the beginnings of my career as well as my opinions on today’s musical climate and how I maneuver the entertainment business. The conversation was very open. I kept it very candid with students and let them know the truth about how things work in the real world.
I let them know that this has been a beautiful struggle. Pursing your dreams is never an easy thing. The first word I ever remember learning that stuck with me: Perseverance. I remembered it b/c it was such a big word for us in kindergarten and I was determined to learn and remember it forever! Who knew that I would grow to actually embody the word. Perseverance means: steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
