Emerging Artist Teddy Talks Music in NY, Rich The Kid, & Fat Nick

Fresh off Fat Nick’s Generation Numb tour, rising Emo-Rap star Teddy delivers a two for one.

The NYC born and raised rapper is cross-breeding music effortlessly. Teddy, who was best friends with Lil Peep, has just finished touring in conjunction with their confidant Fat  Nick. He chats with me about the show life, creating his own genre of music and working with today’s most popular artists.
The Broken Hearts/Taste Me duo is a short and stinging look into Teddy’s artistry. The 21-year-old melodically chants over eerie production by Swedish artist Canto.  “Love is my drug, yeah that’s all I need.” He reveals in Broken Hearts. He also reveals a tortured soul in Taste Me. The young artist delves into different emotions in each track.

Check out our chat below and make sure you tune into Teddy’s catalog here.

I wanted to know a little bit more about his background.
Where are you from? How old are you? & what’s the music scene like there?
I’m from New York, New York. I grew up in Soho and Manhattan. I’m 21 years young.” He stated proudly. “It’s really a small city with a lot of different people. There’s a little of everything. A mix, that’s translated in my music.
Can you tell me about your recording process? Do you go in and freestyle some songs and write others?
He admitted “It varies on the day , session, or night.  A lot of the time I go in and freestyle. I piece together a puzzle. Or I could go in and find a melody I like and come out and write to it.
Who are 5 of your favorite artists?
After thumbing through his thoughts he says, “Future, Young Thug, YWN Melly, Soja, and Bombshell Rocks.
What was it like growing up with your uncle being in a band? How was the live show experience different than it is now, as a performing artist?
It’s a lot different. In the 2000s you would see cult followings for bands like Linkin Park. It was super special to see die hard fans. Most people nowadays are fans of the look or image, not just fans of the music.
Teddy stands out in bridging the gap in today’s new world of music by collaborating with artists like Rich The Kid and ILOVEMAKONNEN.
How did the song with Rich The Kid come about?
Just in right place right time. I happened to be in Platinum studio working on some new sh*t and it just happened.”
Who else would you like to work with?
We find a theme here. He shares “Young Thug, Future, Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Where does the influence for your music stem from? I hear the hip-hop and rock mesh very well. So I’m interested in how you mix them so cleverly.
Surprisingly he said, “I really can’t stand my vocals. It took me a long time to find out how I wanted to sound. The overall vibe, the vibe is super important to me, nothing too slow or too fast.
Do you play any instruments?
I play the drums  and I know mess around with guitars. I know a few chords.
How do you want your music being enjoyed? If you could paint a picture of your music being blasted and people just vibing out, what would the setting be?
His imagination came out to play for this one. “…In a field of a million roses, pastures, green grass , to sit on and frolic in. Everyone would just take in the scenery, sitting there wireless headphones.
How was the Generation Numb tour? How did you connect with Fat Nick?
It was unfortunate where we met. Lil Peep’s home going service. I’m very appreciative. We kind of first met through Peep on FaceTime , and the rest was history.
What do you have coming up next?
Teddy was stayed elusive, “A lot of music , consistent music.” I wanted to know when we could expect the new music. He revealed,  “New Year , maybe before the New Year.
We can’t wait to hear more from the pivotal rap-star.

We See CiCi Coming!

Ciara is back with another upbeat dance hit. “Level Up” is a dismissal of all negativity and the recognition of ascension. Cici uses a popular party song made viral by social media to create the perfect beat. We all know of her turbulent relationship with rapper, Future. He recently released a mixtape and some fans feel like he was taking shots at the princess of the A. While they’ve never mentioned eachother’s names in songs with lines like “That’s old news[…]no losses just upgrading.” from Cici and “I took a chance when you had miles on you,” from Future; who knows? Maybe this is a rebuttal maybe not. Either way it’s fire!

After being convicted of violating probation (on shaky terms), Meek Mill is back. First with the release of his powerful single, Stay Woke featuring Miguel. Mill debuted the song at the 2018 BET Awards with a moving performance. It depicted the rough streets of Philadelphia, where Meek grew up. You can watch the performance by clicking the link above.
Since being home Meek has previewed beats and snippets via his Instagram page. Legends of the Summer, is another four piece combo Meek knock us out with. Each song distinctively different, he has a cut for the ladies, something for the club,  something for the streets, and a thought provoking peace meant to encourage change. Check it out below.

Last but not least, Philly’s cousin, Dave East, has dropped as well; TWICE. The Harlem rapper is known for his cleverly aligned freestyles and he does not disappoint. “I’m Good Cuz, Enjoy,” is a play on rapper Future’s latest social media debacle. Where he told an Instagram model “I’m good luv, enjoy” over text as she sat in her hotel room waiting for him. Instead of ending things with a woman, East is firing off shots at a peer. WHO, you ask?

Check it out above and let me know who to point the finger at in the comments.
East also collaborated with none other than Rick Ross on their new single, “Fresh Prince of Belaire.” The two rappers both have endorsement deals with the popular Rose brand. So why not combine forces and get more money. Am I right?
Listen to “Fresh Prince of Belaire” below and enjoy this Friday Frenzy of new music.
